Did you know that 90,000 children where categorised as being homeless over the Christmas period.DHA are a charity and provide FREE, independent and confidential services that offer support to the most vulnerable people in our communities; via specialist advice, advocacy and representation for families and individuals facing crisis, to prevent and alleviate homelessness, debt and housing difficulty whom often requiring immediate intervention, support and advice face to face, or via the telephone and leading to resolution via Legal Representation. We also offer accessible training and skills development to a wide range of vulnerable people to help reduce unemployment, and promote social and financial inclusion. Direct Help and Advice (DHA); As an independent charity who receive no statutory funding and over the last 12 months have experienced substantial funding cuts which have impacted negatively on the services for the local community. We are continually applying for grants to finance our advice and support services; however grants are becoming increasingly more difficult to secure, especially with local Government cutbacks. DHA reqiure support for marketing our sevices to reach more Homeless Families who dont know about our FREE serviceHomeless children 'at highest level since 2011'Families in this position said that they often felt unsafe, with children exposed to drug and alcohol abuse, fighting, swearing and racist language.Some had to live in one room, share kitchen and bathroom facilities with strangers, and eat meals on the bed or on the floor.The accommodation was sometimes in poor condition and some parents had to share beds with their children.Others reported depression, panic attacks, self harming and their children bed wetting.Some children get depressed.Being in this predicament damages children's ability to make and keep friends and affects schoolwork
