Chamkanu CIC is a community interest company that will support young adults in Central America (exact location to be decided after a research trip in spring 2020) that are disadvantaged as a consequence of being marginalised. Working with local NGO's, INGO's and charities, we will provide a free, one year English language course followed by a paid, one year apprenticeship to adults that are: - female - HIV+, - diffabled (particularly those that have learning diffabilities or are deaf, blind or wheelchair users) - impoverished - transgender - from an ethnic minority group - a recovering addict - a sex worker. Our hope is that the combination of being able to speak tourist English and having work experience behind them will act as a springboard onto a brighter future and that it gives them a chance in life that they may not have had otherwise. This, we hope, will help them to lift themselves, and their families, out of poverty.

Hello, We are Chamkanu CIC, a Community Interest Company founded by Malikai in September 2017; we will support young adults in Nepal that are disadvantaged as a consequence of being marginalised. Working with local NGO's, INGO's and charities, we will provide a free, one year English language course followed by a paid, one year apprenticeship to adults that are disadvantaged because they are: – female – HIV+ – diffabled – Dalit / "Untouchable" – Tibetan – impoverished – Transgender – from an ethnic minority group – a recovering addict – a sex worker Our hope is that the combination of being able to speak tourist English and having work experience behind them will act as a springboard onto a brighter future and that it gives them a chance in life that they may not have had otherwise. Our hope is that this will help them to lift themselves out of poverty.
