Engera

Engera is an NGO working to improve the health of women and children in the Gurage zone and parts of Oromia, Ethiopia. History The name Engera refers to Ethiopian bread made from teff flour, a grain native to the Ethiopian highlands and a staple food in Ethiopia. Engera's mission began in 2005, when a group of dedicated Italian medical professionals started to provide medical assistance and training in Ethiopia. Today, Engera works with medical personnel, the Ethiopian Catholic Church, local NGOs and the local government to provide medical, social and humanitarian assistance in an area where more than 100,000 people lack access to adequate health care - 35% of whom are children. Engera focuses on maternal and infant health to meet the needs of women and children in particular, but our work goes beyond infant and maternal health to include primary health care. Engera has built a force of 450 medical volunteers who have participated in more than 60 missions. We have opened two new clinics, now fully-fledged health centers, in the villages of Zizencho and Shebraber in the Gurage zone and provided staff, financial and training support to five others. The land for the health facilities belongs to the government, and we work closely with a dedicated team of Catholic sisters to help manage them.

Marketing, website support, content creation etc

Hello, we are a small NGO with only one staff member. One of our priorities this year is to raise funds for three new buildings (staff quarters, toilets and a maternal and child outpatient clinic) for one of our health facilities in Ethiopia. We would appreciate support for a social media campaign for this project and help with the creation of website pages for this project. We would also welcome general support to raise more awareness about the importance of access to health care, and we also need a redesign of the Engera UK website. Also support with SEO. Content can be in English or Italian.
