FOP Friends

We are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting those living with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). We also support those living with progressivie osseous heteroplasia, or POH. Our mission is to fund essential research, advocate for patient rights, and provide a supportive community for families affected by this rare genetic condition. At our heart, we aim to improve the lives of those living with FOP while supporting the race to find a treatment and a cure. Our strategy focuses on four key pillars: research, by funding the specialised team at the University of Oxford; support, through family conferences and peer networking; education, to reduce the high rate of misdiagnosis; and advocacy, to ensure patients receive appropriate medical care. Founded by the Bedford-Gay family following their son’s diagnosis, our charity serves as a vital bridge between the clinical world and the patient community. Ultimately, we work to ensure that no family faces the challenge of living with FOP or POH alone.
