Brand Makeover for Racehorse Rescue Centre News Post Image

The Racehorse Rescue Centre has received a brand makeover from the design agency Ellipsis as part of our on-going Brand-You collaboration. We've caught up with Ellipsis and the Racehorse Rescue Centre to hear about the result of their work together.

The View from Ellipsis by Tonie Lam:

The design request

Racehorse Rescue Centre rescues ex racehorses and retrains them so that they can be re-homed. They also provide therapy sessions for injured soldiers, disadvantaged groups and people suffering from trauma and depression using rescued horses.

The RRC is a growing charity, popular amongst the public and social media, with over 50,000 followers. Their level of achievement however, was not reflected in their visual identity and branding. Ellipsis was keen to help address this issue and worked closely with the RRC to design a contemporary and easy-to-recognise identity and website.

The solution

The final identity makes use of the existing dark navy colour and a deep red circle to frame the horse’s head silhouette. Clean typography sits alongside the iconic horse illustration, making the logo easy to use.

The logo has been applied to business cards, letterheads, the charity’s horse wagon and volunteer jackets.

Ellipsis designed the website to meet the specifications of the RRC, with large images and an advanced search function.

The result

It has been a pleasure working on the RRC’s new branding with Nigel, the charity’s passionate founder. Through this experience we have learnt a great deal about the racehorse industry and the work that charities like the RRC do to make horses’ lives better following the end of their racing careers. We hope that the new identity and website enables the charity to work more efficiently and for more horses to be saved from slaughter.

We wish them the very best in all their future endeavours and for their charity to carry on growing.

Response from Racehorse Rescue Centre by Nigel Wood:

It was a pleasure working with Ellipsis who listened to our wishes and guided us through the design process, taking away the stress and providing us with a new image far exceeding our expectations. Well done and thank you from all at the Racehorse Rescue Centre.
