The World Literacy Foundation takes on the vital task of helping the world’s most disadvantaged children learn to read. Their programmes have supported over 800,000 marginalised children in over 30 countries in areas such as Uganda, Pakistan and Columbia and they will soon be launching a new project in El Salvador.

Over the last 10 years they have worked with local partners to develop effective, evidence-based programmes, with their recent projects using mobile technology to engage with a far greater number of children than they could previously reach.

They joined Pimp My Cause looking to gain marketing and communications support for their newest project, a digital storytelling platform that will support underprivileged children in Australia, the US and the UK.

After joining, they were quickly contacted by Dominic Zammit, a marketing and communications manager at a large international law firm, who was very interested in supporting their work.

Over the last few weeks Dominic has helped them develop their communication materials for the new platform including writing press releases, business development emails to get celebrity supporters for the project, and helping to write the script for their animated video. Because the World Literacy Foundation doesn’t have any internal marketing staff Dominic’s support has made a huge difference. He is currently helping them to create their marketing plans for a kickstarter campaign that will go live on June 30th that will raise funds for their new digital storytelling platform.

Jordan Kay, Project Director at World Literacy Foundation, said, “Dominic’s assistance has greatly contributed to the World Literacy Foundation. His enthusiasm and professionalism have made things so much easier. It is incredibly helpful to have the assistance of someone with this level of experience. As a NGO it is difficult for us to justify spending time and money on marketing but Dominic's assistance has been a remarkable contribution and helped us to grow as an organisation.”

Dominic has also created social media marketing plans and is helping Jordan connect with a university student who can gain marketing experience while supporting the implementation of the World Literacy Foundation’s social media strategy.

The World Literacy Foundation is always interested in hearing from potential partners, supporters and collaborators and they will be hosting a networking event in London on June 18th at 7:30pm. If you would like to attend the event to learn more about their work or share your skills or ideas please email jordankay@worldliteracyfoundation.org for more information.
