Crowdfunding campaign video creates sustainable livelihoods News Post Image

In November we wrote about Laura Rana's new social enterprise Khushi Kantha, which empowers struggling mothers in Bangladesh to provide for their children with dignity. The women create hand-stitch multi-purpose baby ‘kantha’ blankets made from reclaimed cotton, which are then sold by Khushi Kantha.

We’re pleased to report that Khushi Kantha are now crowdfunding to pay for their first collection of sustainable, multi-purpose Happy Blankets and John Griffith of Social Video has helped to edit and produce a film to support their crowdfunding campaign.

Laura said: 'When I was planning Khushi Kantha's crowdfunding campaign, I asked lots of people for advice. Everyone told me that the video was really important! I had no idea how I was going to pull something together.....until John came to my rescue!  He went way above and beyond anything I could have expected, and did an incredible job of shaping the material I did into a coherent, inspiring narrative. Like every other aspect of launching Khushi Kantha, the pandemic made creating the video challenging in lots of ways - but John's blend of talent and a relentless “can do” attitude meant that we got there in the end.....and I'll be able to use clips from the video in all sorts of ways beyond the length of the campaign.'

John was pleased to support. He said: ‘It was a huge challenge. With travel restrictions Laura and I weren’t able to film on location and we had to pass on our requests for footage to others. I was given a mix of photos and video footage and did my best to piece them together to create the story that Laura wanted to tell. I’m so glad I was able to support this fantastic project and I hope the campaign is a great success!’

Right now there are still 7 days left in the crowdfunding campaign and they are more than 80% of the way to their target.
