Designing a Better World News Post Image

Anna: We have to draw attention to one of our marketing members, Kay Wood. Kay gets our vote for being the most responsive marketing member on the platform. Kay has been asked to contribute her graphic design expertise to several causes on PMC and in one instance within one day of being asked she had already finished the work and turned it in to the cause. Even when she is very busy with her client work through Kay Wood Graphics, she takes the time to let the causes know when she might be able to help them and tries to schedule in time for their work. We greatly appreciate her professionalism and dedication to helping our causes!

We asked Kay to share a bit about her experience working with our causes.

Kay: I've been a member of Pimp My Cause for a good few months now and it is an exceptional organisation.

I chose to be part of this community to reinforce the fact that being a professional does not always mean you have to be paid for work, it's more about what you can do to help others who are putting endless hours into helping those that are less fortunate in life.

These charities cannot physically afford to pay out on marketing materials as they are taking there own time to raise awareness by whichever means possible and are very limited on funding for the resources to do so in occupying these individuals with various day to day tasks.

Create Ability

The first cause I got involved with was Create Ability, they are a charity that focus on helping people with disabilities recognise their potential in life. They create workshops consisting of art classes and projects enabling the more vulnerable individuals to become much more confident in their own ability to create successful work and be recognised for what they have achieved.

CreateAbility asked me design some branding consisting of a logo which I was given all the requirements for. I ran through several ideas with Kathy and we continued to use this look and feel throughout letterheads, compliment slips the organisation website which is www.createability.org

Also I'm designing a leaflet as an introduction to the charity to show some of the people that Create Ability have helped so far in order to give more of an insight in to what they offer and the care and assistance that they provide. So it's a pleasure to help knowing that I've promoted a cause that supports those who love to be naturally creative and be valued equally.

Hughes Syndrome Foundation

The Hughes Syndrome Foundation instantly caught my attention, as it's a cause that offers guidance, education and advice in general to raise awareness of the seriousness that can occur from having this unique blood clotting disorder, often leading to serious complications if left undiagnosed. Coming from a family with two sisters who are nurses I felt I needed to help in some way, and thankfully visually I could.

The Hughes Syndrome Foundation was as they put it "in need of a body"! They requested graphic design help for a technical drawing of the human form showing the vital organs in a way that their web developer could use to highlight the symptoms of Hughes Syndrome. When you scrolled over a part of the body the related symptoms would be revealed. And it needed to be consistent with their current brand image and website www.hughes-syndrome.org

The Hughes Syndrome Foundation was a pleasure to help and Kate your feedback was much appreciated so thank you for your kind words.

I'm extremely proud to be part of Pimp My Cause and like I always say to others - if you've got the tools use them.

I'd also like to say a massive thanks to both Anna and Paul at Pimp My Cause for being so efficient with your communication, organisation and website as it is a really positive influence.

Anna: More work by Kay will be shared soon . . .
