Ellipsis Unveils the First Brand Makeover of the Year News Post Image

Design agency Ellipsis is offering a different cause a complete brand makeover for each month of our Year of Great Marketing Karma. We caught up with the agency to see the results of their first intervention in support of Visits Unlimited and were blown away by the agency’s creativity.

The view from Ellipsis by Catherine Hampshire and Laura Mingozzi:

The design request
Visits Unlimited intends to become a nationally recognised organisation. They would like to be the first port of call for anyone wishing to go out for the day with a disabled child or young person, as well as becoming the most trusted training and mentoring organisation that venues will go to for advice, holistic service audits and great staff development. They hope that by accrediting venues on their quality mark scheme, family days out will be as fun and easy as possible. Above all, they want to give out a completely new message about disabled children: that these children are, above all else, just children, like any others. They want to get out, get down and dirty with all the rest, having fun and experiencing new things with their brothers, sisters and friends.

Pro bono brand makeover from Ellipsis

The solution
From the very first conversation we had with Visits Unlimited, the founders' passion rubbed off on our design team. Key words from our chat were 'fun, memorable, genuine, commitment, helping hand'. Our design development focused on a family with a disabled child in a wheelchair, combined with a days out ticket and fun activity silhouettes. We designed a core ticket logo to be used on smaller items and stationery and five different day out silhouettes. This variety of options will help Visits Unlimited to present a professional side of their organisation to trainees and simultaneously appear fun and welcoming to families. The response to our ideas was extremely positive.

The result
It has been great working with such a passionate and enthusiastic team. Sarah and Katie from Visits Unlimited are so excited about our designs and have given fantastic feedback. We have learnt so much about their cause and hope that our branding and advice will ensure their dreams of being a nationally recognised organisation come true.

Response from Visits Unlimited by Katie Clarke and Sarah Moore:

When we first uploaded our request for help on the Pimp My Cause website, we didn't really know what to expect. To be honest, we thought our advert may have got lost amongst some of the more exciting-looking projects people had sent in, so we were pleasantly surprised to be contacted early in the new year by Anna with the opportunity to put ourselves forward for some pro-bono branding by Ellipsis.

From the very start, the team at Ellipsis have been absolutely wonderful. They took the time to really understand our business ideas and our philosophy, in order to ensure that the finished logo and branding materials were a true reflection of everything we stand for and offer as a company.

When the initial designs arrived, we were overwhelmed with the creativity and imagination the team had employed. The discussion which followed really helped to narrow down our focus and arrive at a finished design that reflects our values and intentions and will 'grow with us', as our business develops.

Visits Unlimited were very pleased to be able to visit Ellipsis at their offices in London part-way through the design process, where were welcomed like old friends. Laura and Catherine talked us through their ideas, and helped us to see how the branding comes together as a complete package. As an added bonus, the lovely Jon talked us through buying our domain name and setting up new email accounts.

Visits Unlimited would like to take this opportunity to thank Anna from Pimp My Cause for spotting our little advert in the first place, and the whole team at Ellipsis, especially Laura and Catherine, for all their hard work on our behalf. We can't wait to start getting our wonderful branding out there into the world!
