When Gemma Sanz de la Serna joined Pimp My Cause she was not expecting to gain full time employment, she was looking to volunteer for good causes while looking for a job. She had just moved to the UK from the US and wanted to meet more people in her new home country.

MeWe360, a social innovation incubator, was looking to develop their marketing capabilities and contacted Gemma to express their interest in working with her.

MeWe’s goal is to help creative entrepreneurs reach their potential and in order to do this, they realised they needed a full time marketing manager to support their growth and development.

After being offered the position of Sales and Marketing Manager at MeWe, Gemma said, "Pimp My Cause is definitely synonymous with great karma! I joined Pimp My Cause shortly after moving to the UK. Lending my marketing and business operations skills to an organisation in need seemed like a great way to stay relevant whilst paying it forward. Soon after uploading my profile I was contacted by a terrific organisation, MeWe360. After several rounds of interviews they offered me a paid position.”

Over the past eight months as head of Operations and Marketing Gemma has helped MeWe to create the structure of their organisation and build their marketing strategy. She is now focused on sales and expansion and communicating their successes to the public and potential members.

MeWe sets out to empower entrepreneurs through the combination of a not-for-profit network that provides subsidised support and development; and a fully commercial investment arm that aims to invest in the best of their member businesses.

Gemma said, “I can't thank and endorse Pimp my Cause enough! I would encourage anyone with the relevant skills to join this great organisation and pay it forward."
