Glad’s House wanted to tell their story using an infographic to highlight their success over a 12 month period to existing and prospect donors. They wanted to highlight the impact that donations have had on the lives of the children they support in Mombasa, Kenya. Glad’s House wanted to produce an infographic, because they had a lot of information and statistics about their activity, as such they chose to join Pimp My Cause and seek the assistance of a pro bono marketer and Andrew Nixon-King, a Chartered Marketer responded.

For thousands of children in Mombasa, Kenya, the ‘street’ is where they live their lives: hustling, sleeping, working, and eating.  The street is their home and this is where their daily struggle is endured. Some are second or third generation street children. And the number of children on the streets increases every year.

There are few governments departments addressing the very real needs of these marginalized citizens; but there simply is not enough money to go around. It is up to grassroots organisations and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) to reach out to these children and offer them a helping hand.

Glad’s House mission is to support these children off the streets and realise their full potential through;

  1. Family: reuniting children with family using our team of social workers or placing them with a foster family.
  2. Education: placing the children in full-time education.
  3. Sports: Using our sports programmes to engage children and provide practical and emotional support.
  4. Training: Using our enterprise schemes to provide training and apprenticeships for young adults.

Andrew said about his experience working with Glad's House, “I volunteered after reviewing Glad’s House’s requirements and researching all the great work they had completed with the children of Mombasa. Translating all their information and detailed statistics on what they have achieved over a twelve month period into an engaging visualisation was a pleasure. My thanks to Cliff and Vicky at Glad’s House, for the opportunity to work with them and add some value to the work they do. I hope I can be of further assistance with any additional marketing requirements they may have in the future.”

Chairman of Glad’s House, Dr Clifford J Ferguson commented, "We have already started to distribute the infographic and the feedback from the public and colleagues has been very positive. Andrew was very helpful throughout the process, offering constructive suggestions, accommodating any refinements we had and translated all the information into a very revealing, engaging and coherent visualisation.”
