yeah CIC is a community interest company and a wholly owned subsidiary of National Council for Voluntary Youth Services. It was established with the purpose of ‘taking the best to the rest’ by providing a one-stop-shop for social franchising within the VCS; yeah CIC matches products with buyers, offers advice on intellectual property protection, manages franchise contracts, and markets and sells both directly and on a fixed-term licence basis. In addition to young people creating the process, yeah CIC has a working group that rigorously assesses product proposals every three months. This group is made up of a number of individuals, but at any one time about a third to a half of the group comprises young people (young entrepreneurs as well as young people involved through a variety of participation programmes), who have an equal voice in the proceedings. This makes the ethos of yeah CIC’s work both youth focused and youth led.
