Additional Information

Here at the Malt Cross Trust we want to transform the city of Nottingham. Our emphasis is on building community and long-term, meaningful relationships in a warm, caring environment at the Malt Cross cafe bar, but also by reaching out to people frequenting the bars and clubs of Nottingham at night. Heritage - we are based in a fantastic Victorian Music Hall that we are committed to restoring for the enjoyment of generations to come. We also want to remain sympathetic to the building's roots, maintaining its use as a venue for live performance. Arts & Events - we are passionate about investing in young, local talent and put on a programme of weekly live music events. We provide opportunities for local artists and students to display their artwork in our gallery. We also host numerous community groups engaging in activities ranging from songwriting to knitting. Street Pastors - we have around 80 fully-trained volunteer Street Pastors who patrol the streets of Nottingham on Friday and Saturday nights, offering care and support to people using the city for pleasure. We provide water, flip flops and space blankets, administer first aid, support the police and door staff with violent incidents and help people to get home safely. Safe Space - this is a permanent base in the heart of the city where people can come to receive first aid, support, advice, or simply to wait in safety for a taxi home. Clubs Outreach - this is a project run by students who go out on a Friday night to provide care and support to young clubbers in the city, giving out water, advice and helping pople to get home safely. Cafe Theologic - we hold a series of events in which we encourage people to explore a range of hot topics, such as child slavery, poverty and homelessness, through discussion, debate, music and art.
