Personal Introduction

Hello! I currently work at the University of Birmingham. I'm part of the Stakeholder Relations team within a wider Marketing and Communications division. People often say what is Stakeholder Relations and what do we do? We build relationships and communicate with a wide range of 'stakeholders'. Simply put we work hard to communicate with different groups of people, primarily our colleagues within the University, our neigbours in the local community, local and national government and other groups of people who are important to us. I edit the University magazine and spend a lot of time writing for a variety of audiences, across different channels such as magazines, newsletters, website, intranet and social media. Our team also manages high profile University events such as our annual community day which sees around 12,000 people descend on campus.

Experience

Before the University I worked in a large global packaging company. I was part of a European division and was the European Marketing and Communications manager responsible for communicating the business, products and service to its internal and external audiences.  I'm good at thinking strategically but I'm also good at rolling up my sleeves and getting on with the job in hand. I'm excellent at building relationships and more importantly maintaining them. I've got broad marcomms skills and can usually turn my hand to most things, or work hard to think of solutions. I won't fill the air with useless management jargon but I'll work hard to give a helping hand, an unbiased and different perspective and bags of enthusiasm.
