I am friendly and approachable and am keen to learn and gain new experiences, especially within the world of marketing. I am quite creative and like to use a bit of initiative to think outside the box. My time spent working as a waitress has taught me the value of teamwork and my subsequent promotion to manager means I am skilled at thinking on my feet and organising myself and others. I thrive in a busy, stressful environment and don’t shy away from hard work or delivering to deadlines.
I am now building on my existing knowledge of the marketing basics by studying for a CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing and will graduate in June 2013. This is adding to my understanding of marketing theory and allows me to put this knowledge into practice in my role.
I studied Psychosocial Science at University and took a Marketing unit in my third year to complement my studies. I received a 2:1 degree overall and a First in the marketing unit.
After University I worked as a restaurant manager for a year before leaving to work within a call centre at Aviva. After 18 months in this role I moved departments in order to pursue a career in marketing and have now been working in the Broker Marketing team since August 2011. My role is primarily within a B2B capacity, aimed at marketing Aviva’s insurance products and support propositions to insurance brokers. However, some of the marketing material we produce is for brokers to their existing and prospective customers so I do have some experience with communicating to the end customer from a B2C perspective. I have experience with writing creative briefs, marketing plans and business cases for various campaigns and have been responsible for delivering campaigns from concept and planning stages through to execution. Day to day, I am expected to manage stakeholder expectations and co-ordinate communications between various departments in order to meet deadlines. The creative, innovative side of the job also appeals to me as I enjoy being pro-active and coming up with ideas for marketing material.
