Mission

Our Mission:Cecily’s Fund aims to improve prospects for Zambian orphan and vulnerable children, empowering them to lead a self-reliant, healthy and fulfilling life. We do this by working with selected Zambian partner organisations to ensure that these children have access to education and gain knowledge, life skills and HIV information.

Additional Information

Cecily’s Fund is a small, efficient, UK-registered charity that enables thousands of Zambian orphans and vulnerable children to go to school. These children have lost one or both parents, often to AIDS-related illnesses, or have parents who are too ill to earn a living and so cannot afford to send them to school. We work closely with nominated contact teachers, local organisations and the local community to identify the most vulnerable children in the areas where we work, provide them with school uniforms, books and pens, as well as fees where necessary. Contact teachers oversee their wellbeing and together we monitor their progress throughout their education. We also support a selection of these young people to train as peer health educators and/or to go on to teacher training college. Cecily’s Fund was established in 1998 in memory of Cecily Eastwood, who tragically died in a traffic accident when she was 19 years old, while volunteering with orphans in Zambia. Her family set up Cecily’s Fund to continue her work, and they remain an important part of the charity. Our logo is based on the way she used to sign her letters home. Our Vision: Cecily’s Fund’s vision is of a Zambia in which every child is educated and grows up to lead a self-reliant, healthy, fulfilling life and play an integral part in Zambia's development.
