Mission

London's Living Land Initiative is in it's seed stage. We are looking to set up a charity or a CIC to protect and enhance an area within the green belt in Greater London. We have an opportunity to rewild an area in Stanmore, North West London for rewilding, nature conservation, public access - health and wellbeing etc. The site (Brockley Hill site) used to be a driving range and sits within the geological boundaries of Greater Stanmore Country Park, Pear Woods and Wood farm in the London Borough of Harrow. This land immediately next to the Brockey Hill site contains ancient woodland with a wide variety of species that are endangered, or at risk of becoming endangered (please see attached ecological surveys). The whole area has no through roads so is ring fenced by the roads Brockley Hill to the east, Wood land to the north, Dennis Lane to the west and Valencia/Glanleam road the south (see map in vision document attached). What makes this site special is not just the neighbouring woodlands, or how much it's valued by all who visit, but also its geology is interesting as it has an ascent of 90m therefore providing a wide variety of ecological niches as well as at the top you have magnificent views of London. The whole site is approximately 75 hectares, with no through roads, and is within walking distance of Stanmore tube station on the Jubilee line, therefore anyone can visit the site who can use public transport. By buying the Brockley Hill site, we are hoping to turn all the parcels in the area into one whole site, looking to designate it as one nature reserve. The Brockley Hill site is owned by two men who are hoping to build a banqueting suite on the site and sell the rest of the land to property developers. I have been in touch with the landowners on behalf of the local community and Harrow Conservation Forum, to discuss the possibility of selling the land for rewilding and public benefit and they have paused signing with a large property developer to give me time to see what I can come up with as an alternative option (see attached vision document). I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this project with you and to hear your thoughts on what we are hoping to achieve, and possibly any ideas on how to realise these goals as we do not have any online presence at the moment. Looking forward to hearing from you Jennie Martin (www.jenniemartin.co.uk)

Additional Information

Please note the website given is for my personal work not for the London's Living Land initiative. I send this to you so you can see who is behind the project. I can also send you our vision document (which I feel needs more work on from a design point of view) where you can see the other people behind this initiative. Looking forward to hearing from you. with kind regards Jennie
