Mission

As an independent charity, Rowcroft Hospice provides specialist care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses, many of whom are facing the hardest times imaginable. Our services are provided free of charge to all adults, and each year we support over 2,000 patients and their loved ones across South Devon, from Dartmouth to Dawlish and up onto Dartmoor. We help people to make every day the best day possible and we enable families to share precious moments together - whether that’s a wonderful reunion, a loving heart-to-heart or a gentle cuddle. Our dedicated teams comprise a diverse range of health and social care professionals delivering expert care that is tailored to each patient’s needs and choices. Working towards the single goal of offering patients and their families the very best level of care and support, our teams provide a range of services including specialist nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, complementary therapy, listening and bereavement support, spiritual care and music therapy. While Rowcroft has a small Inpatient Unit in Torquay, 80% of our patients are cared for in their own homes or care homes by our community and Hospice at Home teams. Our Community Team offers a range of services to support patients in managing symptoms, maintaining independence and mobility, and achieving the best possible quality of life. Our Hospice at Home Team provides vital nursing care to patients at home in their last two weeks of life. The service also provides 24/7 advice and support for loved ones, and enables family carers to take much-needed breaks. For patients whose complex needs cannot be met at home, the teams in our 12-bed Inpatient Unit provide specialist care and support. The majority of our care is funded by the generosity of our local community who support us in so many different ways such as through regular monthly donations, legacies, fundraising activities, supporting Rowcroft’s shops and cafes, donating goods, playing our Lottery, and donating to our appeals.
