Help in reopening the Happy Trails Care Centre

The Happy Trails Care Centre was founded in March 2018 by two parents of special needs children. The need to open the institution was driven by the need to provide affordable disability services based on their own experience. The institution which was operational from May 2018 to August 2020 and provided physiotherapy, occupational therapy and special needs education for 15 children. As with all other institutions of learning in Kenya the institution went into lockdown in March 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The institution had to close its doors in August 2020 because of the lockdown’s negative impact on its financial sustainability. In reopening its doors, the Happy Trails Care Centre intends to implement this 3 year ($119,000) project that seeks to “Improve the Quality of Life for Special Needs Children in Nairobi, Kenya.” The project will provide rehabilitation services for 40 special needs children, of these children 10 potential students will be supported to integrate into regular schools. The project also intends to ease the burden of care for parents by piloting a respite service where children will be hosted overnight/weekend. Project sustainability will be maintained through the walk-in paying client service. Services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special needs education and respite services. We therefore require help in identifying and engaging potential funders who are suited for this project. We are willing to establish partnerships for effective implementation and reporting.
