Mission

CoachBright is a social mobility charity. Our vision is a world in which every young person’s destination is based on their choice, ambitions and talents, rather than their background. We deliver coaching programmes for young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to support them to be independent, reflective and resilient so they can lead the lives they want. Our Lifecycle Coaching programmes aims to make social mobility a reality for young people from low income backgrounds at university and in the world of work.

Additional Information

We have been delivering coaching programmes for young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds for over ten years. Experts in this field, our approach has consistently shown increases in confidence, independence and resilience of participants. Last year we reached over 4000 young people across England, and our external evaluators, ImpactEd, measured positive changes across all social and emotional skills. After successfully expanding our delivery from a school setting into the university context, we know that the problem does not end at the school gates. Social mobility is at crisis point in the UK and employers have a huge role to play. It’s about more than just ensuring fair access, it is also about progression. Not just supporting young people to get into ‘top’ professions, but to progress and flourish when they get there. Lifecycle is our programme to address this. From speaking to our alumni we know that the barriers young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds face throughout their educational journeys, through school and into university, persist when entering employment. Barriers which are compounded by a lack of understanding and support. We know that young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds often feel a lack of belonging and are exhausted by constantly assimilating into an environment in which they feel like an outsider. Skills gaps in the national employment market and a lack of opportunity for career preparation at home or within education, mean a portion of your workforce are facing multiple barriers to their success and as result underperforming in relation to their potential. When leadership is starved of the diverse perspectives people from different backgrounds bring, growth and development is stilted. Our Lifecycle programme will support individuals to develop their skills and aspirations, and utilise their talent to fulfil their potential.
