Mission

boom saloon is a global movement to democratise creativity for good, driven by our international members. Across our media ecosystem, we explore the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals through the lens of creativity, championing the importance of our arts and creative industries and the role they play in crafting a brighter future for all. At the heart of boom saloon sit our community projects, which inspire and empower those facing challenges – to date, using creativity to nurture and unlock talents overshadowed by challenges of substance abuse, homelessness, inequality, forcible displacement and dementia.

Additional Information

boom saloon has been using media to do good since 2016 – overcoming challenges of substance abuse, homeless and inequality to platform North Edinburgh’s most talented performing artists at a live community block party; supporting young refugees and asylum seekers in Glasgow into creative education and, most recently, collaborating with those with lived experience to rewrite the story of dementia across Fife and Midlothian. Our work cuts across the full spectrum of the Sustainable Development Goals, working to shift the needle on poverty, climate action, inequality, health and more.

boom saloon's trek to 2,000

Description

Since 2016, we've used our media model to inspire and empower those facing challenges by running a series of community projects. Our latest works to rewrite the story of dementia, using words to give voice to the true lived experience and increasing empathy and understanding in a society ill prepared to design for our ageing population. To support this, in late 2023 we launched a membership model. Our members pay from just £5/ month to rewrite the story of dementia and benefit from a series of discounts, features and events in thanks – alongside connection to a global community of change makers. To fund this vital work, we must secure 2,000 new members. Q2/3 will be vital to this target, with a series of potential marketing campaigns possible – but we are in need of support to strategise and implement these. Our in-house team are well versed in content creation, with particular skills in design and editorial. We are seeking help to capitalise on these and ensure they are best used to achieve our target in a race against time as dementia takes hold of those we are privileged to collaborate with.
