Mission
We are planning to make a dent in poverty this summer by enabling 60 young people from around the UK to take part in one of our 3 Expeditions in Kenya. The project will contribute to the lives of children and young people in both Kenya and the UK.The purpose of the Expeditions are to help the local communities to build and create new classrooms for children, who at present go to school in little more than mud shacks with sometimes around 90 children per class - to give them safe, clean and bright places of study, they will help teach the children basic English, sports and have an opportunity to learn and share each others' cultures. The groups will also have a chance to participate in cultural events and trips and see some of this beautiful countryThe young adults from the UK will all have come from a background that has been disadvantaged through either social, economic, educational or cultural obstacles. They will be recommended to us through a variety of youth organisations, who will put forward candidates who have shown promise and effort in turning around their situations, and who they feel would benefit from it at this stage in their lives. The benefits for them will be many, from developing the self-confidence to advance beyond their current or past circumstances, to gaining team-building and personal skills that will help them to become more employable or lead to further education/training, giving them a unique international experience to motivate them back in their own communities to strive for more in their lives, and provide them with the opportunity to identify their strengths.

Additional Information
Hi there
Strong Linx was set up to help improve the lives of young people. We have worked extensively in the UK and in Kenya to achieve these goals. We currently send volunteers on expeditions and individual projects to Kenya to schools, healthcare facilities, community development organisations, construction and conservation projects. 70% of the volunteer fees goes directly to support our poverty alleviation work in the community, which encompasses things like feeding programs, providing basic healthcare, supporting self-sustainability projects, and building classrooms.
We would like to raise awareness of our work to gain sponsorship of our organisation to increase the scope of our work across other countries in Africa, Central America and Asia, attract more volunteers and also to raise funds to sponsor the costs of 3 Expeditions this summer, in which a total of 60 UK young people from disadvantaged backgrounds will have the opportunity to be involved in a life-changing trip to Kenya. There they will build their confidence, interpersonal skills and practical ability, and be inspired to make a positive difference within their own communities back at home as they see the benefits of their efforts in Kenya.
