Additional Information

APAFF - Animal Protection Association of Figueira da Foz is a NGO for animal welfare.   Apaff was founded in May of 2001. Currently, we have in our care close to 280 dogs and cats. Our main goal is to provide them with loving homes where they can live a happy long life. We give new homes to more than 300 cats and dogs, each year! Apaff has a no kill policy. The animals in our care won’t be euthanised, unless they have serious unmanageable health or behavioral issues.  Apaff relies heavily on volunteer work. We are funded entirely on donations from the public. We also have sporsorship schemes that helps us maintain a reliable income. Volunteers also help organise a range of fundraising events threw out the year. Another main aim of ours is to reduce the population of feral cats! We run TNR schemes, in partnership with other organizations. Apaff neuters around 600 cats and dogs each year. Apaff has begun working closely with local schools. We run educational programs that cover a range of issues, such as Pet care and basic needs; Safety around animals; Importance of neutering. Apaff is currently searching for a spot of land to build a new and improved shelter, that can offer a more confortable home to our “guests”. We also need a new Website so we can start investing in online donations and online store, for another source of income.
