Valid Nutrition (VN) manufactures and distributes highly fortified foods to treat and prevent malnutrition in Africa. These products are made in the countries and regions in which they are needed, thereby stimulating the local economy.Valid Nutrition’s goal is to drive change in the way malnutrition is addressed and accelerate the provision of affordable and highly nutritious foods for the treatment and prevention of malnutrition to all those who need them. A core part of our philosophy is to empower the consumers of our products, regarding recipients as customers, not victims or mere beneficiaries. We operate a unique social business model and VN has registered Irish, UK and USA charity status.

The organisation was established in 2007 by Dr. Steve Collins, a medical doctor with a PhD in nutrition, who is now the company’s Chairman. A world-renowned expert on malnutrition, Dr. Collins publishes regularly in major international medical journals and was awarded an MBE from Queen Elizabeth for his services to humanitarianism in 2001. In 2008, VN won a Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) award for innovation in nutrition. In 2010, Steve Collins was awarded an Ashoka Senior Fellowship (Ashoka is the global association of the world’s leading Social Entrepreneurs).
