Mission
We are a small yet dynamic horse Rescue and rehoming Charity who take on horses in need, whether through neglect, abandonment or owner's circumstances. We operate in North Yorkshire and fully assess and rehabiitate all horses prior to rehoming. We do not aim to be a sanctuary as this would be unsustainable - horses we take on do need to have a reasonable chance of being rehomed eventually. Encouraging the public to take on a rescue horse instead of buying from a breeder is also part of our policy, as there have been major problems with overbreeding over the last few years, which, coupled with the economic recession, has led to a dramatic increase in the number of welfare and abandonment cases needing our help. Our planned expansion will allow us to have the stabling and other resources in place to save more horses next winter. Having operated in a very small way with a limited number of volunteers over the last 4 years, we are now in the process of registering with the Charity Commission so that we can expand, obtain funding. purchase premises, generate regular income and publicise our activities. We currently do not have our own premises, and so purchasing a small farm to use as a base is a priority, as is involving more people with the necessary skills to help lead the Charity forward.
