The Phoenix Education Trust aims to support schools to embed collaborative cultures and promotes democratic education. By democratic education we mean education that: - gives all members of the school community a genuine say in decision-making - creates a culture of respecting difference and promoting tolerance which enables the community to work collaboratively and engage in collective decision-making - believes that sound learning and responsible behaviour are rooted in equality and respect in and out of the class room - allows students to follow their own interests and learn because they wish to - enables students to make choices which have a real impact on their everyday lives
