Mission

Given the many challenges of building sustainable businesses – and the “figure it out as you go along” default strategy –  failure is hardly surprising. For every “good” idea that someone comes up with, there are hundreds of similar ideas for organizations – some of which have already been well funded. What most would-be social entrepreneurs neglect to do is: spend time doing research, create a thorough competitive analysis, and answer the key questions that would be found in a business plan. The content offered in the Social Good Guides aims to provide information about the essential steps needed to build a successful social venture.

Additional Information

The Social Good Guides are a series of 20+ essential small-business guides created to support early stage social entrepreneurs, nonprofit founders and individuals working on social impact projects. The goal of the guides is to centralize knowledge and equip changemakers with the information needed to achieve success during the startup phase of their venture building. Each guide has been authored by a distinguished professional with sector expertise in the social impact space, the covers designed by seasoned graphic designers, and brought to life by a dedicated team of volunteers. The topics range from legal to branding to funding to operations. Three years in the making, this project has been produced by the Social Innovators Collective.
