Additional Information

ITF helps village communities in Africa take control of their future. Supporting them to plant trees provides food, income and improves the quality of soil and water. Locals are at the heart of tree planting - working hard to reduce poverty, kickstarting community forestry projects and restoring habitats, which protect wildlife populations such as the River Crossing Gorilla. These projects can also involve fundamental rights issues such as access to ancestral land.  Young people in the UK are also learning to be Tree Explorers and Guardians with Tree Power, an outdoor and global learning project involving schools. ITF will be 90 in 2014. It is one of the oldest forestry organisations in the UK, having been founded in 1924 by the visionary tree planter Dr Richard 'St Barbe' Baker, a passionate environmentalist and author.
