Additional Information
Merton, south London. May brings communities closer together through sustainable activities and by being an exemplar of low impact living on a budget. For over 5 years, our success includes transforming our environment, changing people’s attitudes to become greener and economically resilient. www.mayproject.org www.facebook.com/mayprojectgardens.
The project blossomed for many years with our small team of committed volunteers and, in particular, the Co-Founder Randi Mayers. Just like the seasons, there has been a huge change. The core of volunteers has either moved on to study or start other projects and I will be travelling to promote music for social cohesion and creating sustainable projects in other countries.
It would be a travesty if the project stopped especially as it has inspired so many people.
Our garden houses several fruit and vegetable growing beds, a medium polytunnel and is open to all those interested in learning and/or sharing skills and knowledge in permaculture, horticulture and community development. The May Project Gardens acts collectively to educate the local community about the issues that affect the environment and its inhabitants. We provide practical demonstrations and encourage all members of our community to get involved and make a difference.
