Mission

To work with communities to enable them to use community radio to tackle disadvantage.  In the past we have achieved this by delivering radio projects ourselves in local communities.  We are now working as a sector support organisation, running national projects in partnership with community radio stations across the UK, and providing resources for what is a very under-resourced sector.

Additional Information

Radio Regen is a community radio development charity which promotes the use of community radio to tackle disadvantage.  We were set up 15 years ago and in that time we have worked in various deprived areas of Manchester and engaged thousands of local people - setting up community radio stations such as ALL FM, Wythenshawe FM, and North Manchester FM, and running radio training courses.  Our aim has been to give local people a voice and new skills and confidence, getting them involved in community radio volunteering and improving their employment prospects. Now that the community radio stations set up by Radio Regen are independent, we are focusing on running projects to support the UK community radio sector.  We host a 'Community Radio Toolkit' website – “a place for community radio people to learn, talk and share - and are running a number of national projects to provide resources for community radio stations across the UK, including how best to use radio to help young people to develop communication skills.

Description

We need help and advice on how we go about raising the awareness of local people and partner organisation on the excellent community work we do. We have a massive reach working with over 300 members of the community each month through our various schemes. Our services are a community resource that are accessible to everyone. However, community awareness is low and we do very little with regards to fund raising, advertising and PR. We want the community to know what we do and for us to be the go to charity for local fundraising. This is very much out of the skills set of our staff and volunteers and we really don't know how to do this. Please can someone help??
