Mission

Ascape is a new charity created to provide educational adventure holidays for children and young people with atopic conditions - allergies, asthma and eczema.  In addition to our week-long holidays, we also provide a peer support programme and follow-up event for all of the participants to ensure that they, and their families, recieve year-round benefit from learning about controlling their conditions and living life to the fullest. All of the volunteers who help us to organise and run our activity holidays have previously been part of the Kick Asthma holidays which were organised by Asthma UK from 2006 to 2012. Some of them have been volunteering for much longer than this, and all are dedicated to ensuring the holidays are exciting, educational and adventurous. Ascape runs residential activity holidays because it believes that children and young people learn more about themselves and their medical condition over a time away from home than they do in short-term clinics. The holidays allow the children and young people to meet other children with similar conditions, learn from volunteers who are managing the same condition, try new activities in a safe environment without fear of being bullied and realise they can do activities with the right support and condition management. Over the holiday they build trust in the volunteers and health professionals so that they will listen better to their advice and support on living and managing their medical condition. These are benefits that you do not get in health clinics or short-term breaks and this is why we continue to run residential holidays.
