Mission

We would like to see our program have a more solid foundation by owning our own home to run the program out of and perhaps having the program run out of more than one location.  I appeal to you on his behalf, on my behalf, on our behalf, but most importantly, on their behalf, those still to come, so that our doors are always and forever open and ready to welcome them.  The need will never disappear.

Additional Information

Hi there. My name is Samantha Andrews. I am writing in the hopes of getting your help in raising awareness for a cause taking place right now in Vancouver, Canada. There is a man, Norm Sharkey, who turns 78 years old this September, and he is rollerblading 5350 km or 3325 miles (the distance of a cross Canada trek), around Stanley Park's sea wall over the summer to raise funds for us to purchase a home for our addiction recovery program. The cause is called Wheels 4 Freedom and the program is called Our House. It is a successful program, as many of us can attest. We help get homeless addicts off the streets. I am clean 2.5 years thanks to it. This man, Norm, who founded the program way back in 1977, is 43 years sober. We currently rent a house in Surrey, BC.  We used to be right downtown Vancouver but had to move unexpectedly last year when the house we were in was sold.  The house we have in Surrey is full. We would like to see our program have a more solid foundation by owning our own home to run the program out of and perhaps having the program run out of more than one location. We are a charitable organization and we are having a difficult time getting this story out. I am appealing to you in the hopes of obtaining support, sponsorship, donations, publicity, any way of helping us get the message out that there is a man who has already dedicated the better part of his life to helping others battle addiction and who is now skating his heart out, 5 days per week, rain or shine, to help guarantee the future of this unique and successful program.  I appeal to you on his behalf, on my behalf, on our behalf, but most importantly, on their behalf, those still to come, so that our doors are always and forever open and ready to welcome them.  The need will never disappear.
