Additional Information
This project aims to reduce the social isolation experienced by people with mental health issues, living within our inner city communities. Through a structured programme of group work and tailored one-to-one support the project enables participants to identify and achieve personal goals, work towards better social integration and develop pathways to a healthier, more positive and sustainable life experience.
The project involves a 2 day workshop and up to six months of (optional) follow on mentoring. For those who, for whatever reasons, cannot commit to the mentoring programme, attending the 2 Day Workshop alone will also have some benefits.
After attending the workshop there is the option of up to six months of structured mentoring that allows for a safe and realistic exploration of each participant’s personal aspirations.
The workshop is to introduce service users to the idea of exploring positive ways forward by carrying out regular practical actions towards short term goals, which lead to the accomplishment of longer term (harder to achieve) goals.
During the mentoring the progression of each participant will be charted with the Recovery Outcome Star and other similar processes so personal journeys can be monitored and for part of the evaluation of the project.
This project also aims to be a service user run and led conduit between services in the mental health sector and the people they serve. The project will aim to help people identify useful services and regularly update them on changes or restructuring of these services that may affect them on their recovery journeys. This part of the project will sit alongside and complement the workshop and mentoring.
