Mission

Bringing Fine and Applied Arts to the MassesKunstpedia aims to form a link between the general public, with potential interest in fine and decorative arts and those with a specialized background and passion who hold the knowledge. To this end, it encourages anyone who is “in the know”, with a dedication to sharing the cultural riches and enjoyment the arts can bring to peoples’ lives, to become involved – whether to supply content for the website, become a partner, or support the aspirations of the foundation in any other way. Our MottoThe motto the foundation has adopted as its own is a quote by Henry Ford: “Coming together is the beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”

The Kunstpedia Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the interest in and appreciation for fine and applied arts, but excluding contemporary arts.  The foundation manages the website (www.artwis.com) which provides rich and freely-accessible content in the form of articles, e-books, and blogs, supplied by a variety of contributors including art historians, collectors, galleries, dealers, and museums.  It was launched in 2008 for the benefit of the general public and all those involved in fine and applied arts, be it professionally or otherwise.
