Mission

Historically the River Calder (Yorkshire) was a thriving ecosystem uintill the industrial revolution when our rivers became no more than open sewers and pathways for the disposal of dyes and toxins associated with the woolen industry and other manufacturing.Currently we are seeing a better chemical constitution of the river system and the trend is definatly improving as we start to respect the enviroment and ecosystem services once more. Our mission is to ensure this trend of improvement continues by engaging communities throughout our catchment and look at ecology and biodiversity issues in an affordable and sustainable solutions to some of the issues.

CCRT is an autonomous registered charity (part of a growing UK network of similar Trusts) that seeks to conserve, restore and rehabilitate our local River Calder and its triutaries from source to sea using a sound science base. We became a charity in February 2010 after a short period of establishment as a not for profit group of associated interested parties.
