The MSMFF wants to play a leading role in making Montreal the Stop Motion capital of the world. The MSMFF seeks to raise awareness and appreciation of stop motion animation within the local community by developing and cultivating their interest in both Canadian and International cinema. The Festival’s target goal is the social and cultural benefit of cultivating interest in arts and culture.

The Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival (MSMFF) is an annual event, organized at Concordia University and dedicated to the support and promotion of the Stop Motion. Launched in 2009, the MSMFF is the first Film Festival in the world to concentrate exclusively on Stop Motion and it has inspired three other countries to follow the same vision. Since its first edition, the MSMFF has received more than 1000 film entries, 12 international and national guests, more than 3000 attendees and it has organized over 150 hours of free Stop Motion workshops.
