To provide free or reduced cost housing to low income young adults (a safety net) to help them successfully make the transition from dependence to independence.
Disability
ANSIL (A New Start In Life) is housing, education and support services for young adults ages 18-24 to help them transition from dependency upon parents to healty, successful, thriving independence. The program currently provides structure and security by providing rental subsidies for a one bedroom appartment (for up to a year), living skills training, and support while 7 young adults and their families finish their education, gain the job skills needed to succeed, or recover from economic missteps in their pasts. In addition, a property (a former hotel) is currently being renovated to create ANSIL Hall. This residence hall modeled on a college dorm setting will provide housing and support for up to 18 young adults for one to two years.
