Mission

Noise Solution, a Social Enterprise using 'beat-making' mentoring to make youth feel they matter. Why? because relationships are the universal, consistent indicator of success across mental health and educational research. Music mentoring is the perfect vehicle around which to build relationships. Inherent to our model is a digital portal we've created, musicians and participants capture their developing story in music and rich video reflection, weekly, documenting every participant's mentoring journey from start to end. These act as a (secure) bridge into the participant's world for families and key workers, who engage weekly with it through comments. We're both mirroring success and developing relationships. Our platform means we have a unique and sophisticated ability to capture, track, analyse and report on our outcomes. “Noise solution is an organisation that demonstrates outcomes and this makes it stand out in the sea of different providers. Outcomes are important and Noise Solution can demonstrate outcomes better than anyone else I know” Stuart Hudson, Strategic Lead for Suffolk Family Focus “In terms of interventions, it is probably the best intervention I have encountered. this programme transforms students’ lives”. Additional Information

Participants digitally capture, within our own cloud based platform, and share with family and keyworkers highlights, reflections, thoughts and feelings about their musical journey. This approach draws on evidenced understandings of how to increase well-being and motivation. As well as actively improving outcomes, the digital capturing of text, audio and video alongside start and end well-being surveys supports realtime monitoring of a participant's progress through the programme, creating a rich mixed dataset for impact evaluation. Improved well-being is well evidenced to improve engagement, health, educational and social outcomes. We mentor face to face and online through music and music technology. The music making is fun but we've designed the experience – and the digital sharing of it – to specifically encourage autonomy, competence and relatedness. Hugely well-evidenced research is clear that these feelings are not just 'nice to have' but are psychological needs, vital to enabling well-being and motivation to flourish. Improved well-being = better outcomes. We've seen transformational change through our work, 3 years of massively statistically significant impacts on well-being. An independent assessment on the financial impact showed that at a conservative estimate we are making savings of 334% for families and statutory services in the short term Short. film here https://vimeo.com/505017621

Designer interested in behavioural science

Description

We've already built a platform that enables our vulnerable youth to capture their musical journeys (in a format that is like a social media experience - everyone has a feed that they post to). It enables them to interact with their families and key workers in this way - and it's working, we think there is an awful lot more we could do within that process to improve it. A lot that could be done from a wireframe design perspective - mapping out their digital journey to take advantage of what we know about behavioural science - as well as taking a long look at the visual aesthetics of the platform and refreshing that for the same reasons. We're looking for someone with experience of both visual design and who understands those 'customer' journeys within a digital context - to help us have more impact on the young people and families we work with.
