Prospect Burma provides scholarship grants to enable Burmese nationals to study at universities outside of Burma.  Following a student uprising in the late 1980s, the military government of Burma closed the universities and arrested many of the protest leaders. Since then, universities have been subject to sporadic closures and a poor quality of teaching that has meant that a generation of young people within Burma do not have access to tertiary level education of an international standard. Prospect Burma seeks to address this gap by providing funds for Burmese students to study at universities outside of Burma, primarily in SE Asia.
