Mission

There's a quickly closing diplomatic window to establish long term peace. We'll be asking Israel to lift the blockade and enable Gazans to rebuild their lives. This is something the UN, the Red Cross and the European Union have all called for. If the blockade stays in place, it will take at least 20 years to rebuild Gaza. This project was born after a group of us in the creative industries who were moved by the situation in Gaza, came together for a campaign hack in August 2014. None of us has ever run a campaign like this before. It's been completely voluntary and we're fitting it in between our jobs/ the school run/ studying.  The support has already been amazing - with NGOs, journalists, programmers, designers and digital campaigners all mucking in. For this next stage of the campaign we need crucial PR help - to ensure that the visual petition has maximum impact. We are working with an exciting young Gaza artist, Majdal Nateel, and will need help to gain more traction on Twitter, as well as ensuring that we get coverage when we come to handing over the art piece.

Additional Information

The 'Our Gaze is on Gaza' campaign was launched 26 September, one month after the initial ceasefire, launching on Facebook (where we have good traction), Twitter and via our websitewww.gazeongaza.com - asking people to tweet or post a picture of their eye with the #ourgazeisongaza  For the next stage of the campaign we have commissioned an artist from Gaza to create a piece of art that we will submit as a visual campaign to Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and decision makers.
