We believe that the performing arts should represent their audience, and be created by all of society not just by the few. The arts need to examine the entirety of human experience, not just a small section. The current economic climate means that it is becoming increasingly difficult, and often impossible, for children and young people from non-privileged backgrounds to find expression, a voice and in many cases a career in the performing arts. Our aim is to provide access to dance, music and drama to those young people between the ages of 7 and 25.
Disability
The National Youth Arts Trust was founded in 2013 to help non-privileged young people aged 7-25, gain access to an education in drama, dance and music that they would otherwise not have. We provide bursaries for music lessons and dance classes for those who cannot afford to fund themselves, and we support youth theatre projects in areas where there is little or no such provision. For those looking to move into Higher Education we aim to increase access to the Conservatoires for young people from the regions by providing help with the cost of travel to auditions and interviews.
