New Note Projects is a charity based in Brighton and uses music to transform lives. We create orchestras to help people who are socially excluded, reintegrate back into society. By playing in an orchestra setting our participants gain huge support from their peers. They learn musical skills, gain confidence and self esteem. We create pathways for our participants to increase life skills and employment. The inspiration for the charity came from a TV show called The Addicts Symphony, where 10 participants were recovering from drugs and alcohol. They worked together to put on a concert with the London Symphony Orchestra. It transformed their lives. 80% of the participants stayed clean and sober. It had huge outcomes. We intend to use this formula for others who are socially excluded.
