Sainte Luce, Madagascar
http://www.sainte-luce-reserve.comWe are a small lemur reserve in south east Madagascar, protecting habitat, lemurs, and an extraordinary biodiversity. Our mission is to ensure the protection of our forest and our lemurs... this is the very last piece of coastal forest in south east Madagascar. We aim to develop a small but very popular voluntourism business at our reserve to fund the research, management and local engagement necessary to ensure protection of our reserve.

Supporting lemur conservation through habitat protection and ecotourism Sainte Luce Reserve protects local biodiversity using direct habitat protection, but also we aim to develop ecotourism attractions, promote environmental education, and most importantly, engage with, employ and improve the well being of the local population. The reserve – and the forest that it protects – has been declared as one of the last and most intact sections of coastal forest in southeastern Madagascar. The reserve is open only to conservation volunteers and researchers. Volunteers are welcome all year – a maximum of four people at a time – and can stay for from 2 weeks to 10 weeks; this is perhaps one of the most unique opportunities to help protect wildlife in Madagascar.
