http://www.africanrevival.org.ukOur mission is to transform schools in Africa into effective and thriving teaching and learning environments – schools in which skilled and motivated teachers are supported by the parents and community in providing quality education to pre-primary and primary school children. To achieve this mission we have developed a holistic approach comprised of three core strategic areas: Quality, Access and Equality. Our model school programme and long-term teacher support improves the quality of education for all children. Our support to parent-led schools means every community can provide access to pre-primary and primary education for their children. African Revival also believes in an Africa where girls have equality of opportunity that allows them to complete pre-primary and primary education at the same rate and with the same success as boys.
Education and Skills
African Revival believes that education is the key to overcoming poverty, and our vision is an Africa where every child has equal access to quality education. AR has been working in northern Uganda and southern Zambia for almost a decade and has improved educational opportunities for more than 25,000 children. While initially AR responded to the immediate need to construct school facilities – classrooms, latrines, pupil and teacher accommodation – we are now moving towards addressing more complex aspects of education provision, namely access, retention and quality. We are using our expertise, organisational reputation and excellent relationships with schools in both countries to build a better future for children and communities across the regions. Our staff are based in the rural communities they serve which allows them to build excellent relationships with schools. This proximity to our partners, along with our organisational reputation and expertise, allows us to be more efficient with donor’s money and more accountable to communities – we work with the community at every stage of our projects. This community-led and supported approach has sustainability, capacity-building and delivering the greatest impact for money at its heart. We have 18 staff in total (3 in UK, 13 in Uganda and 2 in Zambia).
