Mission

Citizens Advice Solent East is a registered charity established in 1939, aimed at providing free, confidential and impartial advice to help people resolve legal, financial, and other problems. With offices based in Portsmouth, Havant, and Gosport, we serve the local community with a team of over 81 staff members and 73 volunteers. Our mission is to make things better for people, individually and collectively. We are driven by the power of good advice, to help people overcome their problems and campaign on big issues when their voices need to be heard. Our 3 service-wide missions are: 1. Provide advice fit for the future - we’ll be there for people when they need us in the ways that help make the biggest impact 2. Close the gap - we’ll end the disparities in access and experience for marginalised people 3. We are currently looking to improve our social media campaigning and looking for innovative ways to help our charity stand out amongst the crowd in terms of encouraging financial support. We have some very old misconceptions that we have to tackle when raising funds, 1) People think we are government funded, 2) They think we are a national charity and do not have to raise the funds to provide the local service. Generally, I find that people do not understand the difference we make to people's lives and it is this story that I feel we need help to promote and unlock the value of. We would welcome the fresh insight and pro bono expertise that skilled marketing volunteers could offer.
