Mission

Our mission is to improve the mental health of children, young people and families, building hope and aspiration for the future. We do this by not only promoting trauma informed practices but by directly delivering therapeutic support that enables individuals to rise out of, and past, their own trauma histories. This technique is called trauma stabilisation.

Additional Information

We want to share our experience and belief in the trauma stabilisation approach for children and young people as wide and as far as possible. Our approach involves teaching those who work directly with children, a simple 6 session model of support that enables children to understand their own trauma responses and take back control of their minds and bodies. We would love to be able to market this in as many schools as possible.

Improving the mental health of children and young people

Description

Impact North is passionate about helping children and young people to understand, and take back control of, their past trauma histories. Yes, children could attend counselling sessions to achieve this outcome but what we know is that waiting lists and support thresholds mean that the vast majority of children will never get access to the support they need, leaving them to live in a perpetual state of trauma. However, we have designed a 6 session 'train the trainer' approach which can upskill education staff to directly work with and support those who have experienced trauma. We would very much value any advice and support on how to market this offer to as many schools as possible.
