Mission

To provide a healthy breakfast to the 500,000 children in the UK that arrive to school too hungry and malnourished to learn.I have built a charity-incentivised feedback application that lets customers leave feedback for businesses in return for a charitable donation.Food for Thought is a campaign that aims to get as many businesses as possible to donate a 22p breakfast to Magic Breakfast everytime one of their customers completes a customer feedback survey. A sort of crowdfunding platform except the end user gives their thoughts rather than money. The surveys are short and engaging and as a result response rates are high. This provides real value to businesses who are able to get greater insight in to the voice of their customers as well as simutaneously promoting their CSR efforts. It is my mission is threefold:A: To help Magic Breakfast reach their target of providing breakfasts to 2000 schools (currently they work with approx. 450) B: To provide businesses with a sustainable, value-added way of giving back to our communitiesC: To raise real awareness to this social issue so that ulitmately the Government supplies free school breakfasts to disadvantaged children (as is the case in Wales).

Additional Information

On the 25 June 2015, the Department for Work and Pensions published a report on households below average income in the UK.   Their study found that there were 3.7 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2013-14. That’s 28 per cent of children, or 9 in a classroom of 30 and London is the area with the highest rates of child poverty in the country. Accordingly, there are over 500,000 children in the UK that come to school without breakfast and arrive too hungry and malnourished to learn. There is a charity called Magic Breakfast that provides free, nutritional breakfasts to these children in need and their aim is to solve the problem of child hunger in the morning for good It costs just 22p to provide each breakfast and it helps to improve a child's concentration, behaviour, attendance, punctuality and educational attainment. They have a huge waiting list but they are only a small charity and do not have the financial resources to reach every school that needs their help. Food for Thought is my initiative to help Magic Breakfast receive the funding they need so that they can continue to do the amazing work they do and grow to make sure they can provide breakfast to every child that needs one.
