Mission
Since 1972, Mukutan Conservancy (formerly Laikipia Nature Conservancy) has championed the protection of biodiversity, sustainable development and cultural preservation in Kenya. Situated in northwest Laikipia County overlooking Lake Baringo and the Great Rift Valley, Mukutan Conservancy is not only a critical part of the conservation estate of Laikipia but also the Northern Rift Valley to which we are ecologically and ethnically intertwined. Mukutan is recognised as a Key Biodiversity Area and an Important Bird Area and we work with the community to conserve a thriving ecosystem of 88,000 acres of rich biodiversity. Linking conservation efforts with economic opportunities, we are committed to ensuring long-term sustainability for both people and nature.
Vision: We envisage lasting harmony between nature and community. We strive for a future where biodiversity, the environment, and human well-being flourish together.
Mission: We are dedicated to developing an integrated model of landscape conservation and management. Through education, innovation, and social enterprise, we work with local communities to protect the unique flora, fauna, soils, and water of this ecosystem and foster regenerative development across Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
