We are transforming maths education in the UK by working in partnership with schools to implement a mastery approach to maths teaching. We provide ongoing professional development training for teachers, we work with schools on the specific needs facing their staff and teachers and we provide a rigirous mastery-based curriculum which is fully aligned with the national curriculum and Ofsted. We also provide resources and materials for lessons, so teachers are fully equipped to deliver the programme. The reason we're needed is because the UK is not succeeding in maths as well as it should. We are around 24th in international league tables and our attainment gap is one of the highest in the world. This is not because we don't have good teachers - we do! - we just have an outdated approach to maths education. We also struggle with lack of specialist maths teachers, staff rentention in schools, budget cuts etc. Our programme is best on the tried and tested methods from high performing juriductions like Shangai and Singapore - we have taken key elements of their approach to maths education and applied it the UK's curriculum and culture. We are a new organisation - only three years old - but we are already making impact. An independent study showed pupils on our programme gain one month's extra progress per year compared to children not on the programme.
