Personal Introduction

I am a full time firefighter who is teaching himself to code in my spare time.  I am learning HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Javascript, PHP and Wordpress.  I am looking to build my knowledge and experience by taking on pro bono work for charities and small start up businesses.  I have started this very late in life at 41 as I need a change in career due to niggles with joints and injuries I cannot see me lasting in the fire service until retirement at 60.  I have been teaching myself to code for 6 months now and spend at least an hour a day honing my new craft.

• I have completed the courses to become a Google Partner for google adwords and the Hootsuite University Social Media Marketing courses.

Experience

Check out my other sites I have built at: www.dsskiphire.com.  This was a simple advertisement site. I host it on my servers too. www.sortafrica.com is a more complex business networking site.  I do the Social Media marketing for it as well as the SEO and Google Adwords campaigns.  I also host it on my servers. www.big-blue-design is my personal site.  It doesn't look great as I have not had the time to build it as I would like due to other work, but it has a simple portfolio on there of some other work I have done. I am currently building a simple site for a local cake decorating company, as well as a site for a small business in South Africa teaching English as a Foreign Language.
